A Note From Janet...

Thank you so much for taking time out of your hectic day to stop by and see what I've been up to.

November finds me putting the majority of my energies into giving my memoir one last going over before I hand my baby over to the fine editors at Inspiration for Writers. I have been working on my memoir for the past 10 years so this moment is going to be a huge milestone for me.

Why has it taken so long, you ask? Aside from it being a very painful book to write, when my doctor diagnosed me with the worst case of post traumatic stress disorder he'd ever seen, he ordered me to put my book up. He felt reliving that time in my life would counter act any good the medication I was promptly put on would offer me.

I'm back at it now. I need to get this story down on paper and out the door. January 1st is my self-imposed deadline. While some people have a New Year's Resolution of losing weight, mine will be to take another step towards leaving the past behind and grasping my new life with both hands.

Love You To Pieces - A Glimpse

"Just let the past be the past. It's behind you now, move on." I'm sure those words were meant to be of some sort of comfort, however misguided they may be.
I don't believe that they would consider saying those words if they knew my story - really knew it. But I have no way of really knowing that for sure as I've never shared the details of my story before now.
Let's call this book an experiment. Will even one person change how they feel about women who put up with emotional, physical and sexual abuse? If my life becomes an open book, can I help in some small way of answering some of the age old questions such as "Why does she stay?" and "Why didn't she see the red flags?"
Believe me, those questions are asked not just by those who think they see these things happening but by the victims themselves. I say 'think' they see these things happening because unless they are directly involved, are they really seeing what they think they're seeing?
You may find yourself shocked by what a woman can keep secret...

Love You To Pieces Cover Art

This is a photo I took of the original painting done especially for me to use as the cover art for Love You To Pieces by award winning artist, David L. Sulewski. David is also a dear friend. Words can not express how thankful I am to him for taking what was inside me and putting it to canvas. David is gifted beyond compare.
